Medical certificate (MCs) is issued by doctors as evidence to certify that the said patient is unfit for work for a specified period of time due to medical condition.

Can the doctor(s) at ReallySick.sg issue a Medical Certificate (MC)?

After a sound assessment of your condition from the teleconsultation, our doctors can issue you a Digital Medical Certificate that is generated from www.mc.gov.sg.

A Digital Medical Certificate (digiMC) is initiated by GovTech Singapore, which essentially is an electronic version of a traditional paper and ink medical certificate (MC). It is an authentic MC, which should be recognised in the same way by your insurers and employers.

After consultation, you will receive an email notification with a private link to view or download your MC. Alternatively, you can retrieve it through "My Past Consultation" page after you have logged in to consult.reallysick.sg. You will be prompted to key in your Date of Birth (DoB) to download or view your MC.

The doctor’s signature is not required because the digital MC is computer-generated and electronically tokenized. Your employers will not need to validate your MC with the platform as the digital MC is tamper-proof and is generated from https://www.mc.gov.sg domain. However if your employer feels the need to validate the MC, they can scan the QR code provided on the MC to verify its authenticity.

Under the Employment Act, employers must recognise medical certificates issued by a medical practitioner registered under the Medical Registration Act or Dental Registration Act, and the Ministry of Manpower confirms this includes MCs issued through teleconsultation.

Paid outpatient sick leave additionally requires that the employee is covered by the Employment Act, has served the employer for at least 3 months, has informed or tried to inform the employer within 48 hours of the absence, and has been certified unfit for work by a registered practitioner.

Employees not covered by the Employment Act should refer to their employment contract or company policy.

A medical certificate may be issued following a teleconsultation, but only where the consulting doctor determines there are adequate grounds for it based on proper clinical assessment. This is a professional requirement under the SMC Ethical Code and Ethical Guidelines, and it applies identically to online and in-person consultations. A medical certificate is never a guaranteed or automatic outcome of a consultation.

MOH requires that MCs generated after a teleconsultation record the name and medical registration number of the issuing doctor. Doctors must also assess whether a condition needs a physical examination, in which case it should not be managed by teleconsultation.

Your doctor should not require more than 10 minutes to complete your medical documents. If you do not receive your MC within 10 minutes, please go to "My Past Consultation" to check the status of your consultation. If the documents are not generated, you may contact us. Alternatively, please contact us and our friendly team will revert to you within 24 hours.

No, the link will not expire. Your Employers or human resource department can access it anytime for review in future.

The date of issue of the MC and the dates for which the patient is certified unfit for work / duty must be clearly and accurately indicated on the MC. In normal circumstances, MC(s) cannot be backdated.

You may do so by raising a new consult to reassess your medical condition if you require your MC to be extended.

Unfortunately, MCs are granted (or not) at the doctor’s discretion and should not be disputed. However, if your doctor has agreed to grant you a certain number of days that is not reflected accurately, please contact us and our friendly team will revert to you within 24 hours.

The Digital MC issued by See-Dr Pte. Ltd. is as real as a traditional MC and is recognised by the respective insurers.

Doctors at ReallySick.sg respect your confidentiality and your diagnosis will not be reflected unless you choose so. For the same reason, the MC will be given directly to you and your consent will be sought if your employers contact us regarding your medical condition.
